CAVITY laid insignificant pt. 2

below are the first few stabs at the cover for cavity's forthcoming reissue of "laid insignificant". these are rough to be sure, but heading in the right direction. probably will go through a few more possibilities before settling on something, but there's one in particular that i'm already drawn to - need to sit on it a while though...

the original version of "laid insignificant" was packaged in a multi layer sleeve with illustrations by pushead and design by hyperstoic. i knew there was know way i'd be able to surpass the original either in terms of the illustration or the custom print work, so i went the opposite direction: seeking something simple, clean, and hopefully iconic. maybe i've been looking at the peter saville book a bit too much lately... hmmnn....

in any event here's a preview of the possible outcome of all this.

today: cavity "supercollider", cavity "laid insignificant", aesop rock "none shall pass", elysian blaze "cold walls and apparitions"....

I dig your listening-to playlists at the end of these posts, keep them up! You and Stephen O'Malley have that blogging game down.

Yeah, keep up the good work mr. Turner! :)

Also it seems that HoLC - SIT is not being sold anywhere... Any change of a reissue?

I concur - most of the bands I have never heard of, so it is a good source of new music...

def. a combination of the first concept with the fourth...certainly keeping the pattern on a smaller scale - I really like the way the black bar that says 'interrupts the flow of the pattern kind of does it for me.

Awesome work - I tried to get in contact w/you at Slims to talk about design and metal, but it was a shitfeast trying to walk around in there period.

The right side border has to many of the finger tentacles thing a ma bobs. Seems like my attention filters out through there? Strange, but true.
Soundtrack:
Murder by Death - In Bocca al lupo
Last of the Juanitas - Hawaii
Juana Molina - Tres Cosas

great blog!!!

i love being able to see the work-in-progress stuff. please keep it up!

also, i was wondering if you could post images of the Cave In cassingle art you did a couple years ago. by the time i got my cassingle on that tour they didn't have any covers left, so i only have crappy jpg scans i found somewhere of the art. i thought that layout was great and would love to see some nice jpg's of it.

to clarify, this was on the very bottom picture. Same thing was happening on the very top picture in the top left corner vicinity.

Is anyone else hungry for more Cave In songs?? I can think of a number of songs that havn't properly been released; specifically: INFLATABLE DREAM, Bleed (Nirvana Cover), material from the Cassingle........and i'm sure there is more out there. I hope one day HydraHead will put some kind of package together since the hiatus has been so extensive. Maybe a cd of unreleased cuts with a DVD and a nice little photo book and some Aaron Turner art with some foil stamping......that would be quite amazing.
